If you're willing please chime in on
this thread.
ICSCC seems to be open to the idea. We just need to show them that there is a demand for the class. Bill Visee is doing a great job with the leg work.
For everyone that is interested, we're starting a list of interested parties:
Please e-mail Brad's Custom Auto at
bradscustomauto@comcast.net if you want to be added to the list of potential competitors. Make sure you put American Iron in the subject line so it gets passed along to the correct person. We have someone that has volunteered to be the go-between person with the ICSCC.
Here is a
link to the American Iron Series 2008 rules.
Please pass this along to everyone you know that would have interest. The way the rules are written, American Sedan cars could come run too. They might be a little slower, but it would help fill the field. If you have F-body buddies that would be up for it tell them too.
The 2nd Annual NorPac Divisional Time Trials Championship was held on September 15 & 16 at the Reno-Fernley Raceway in Nevada. The event was again hosted by the Reno Region. This year the event included a PDX in addition to the Club Trials and Track Trials championships. Sixty-five entries enjoyed "chamber of commerce" weather
over the two days of racing and driving fun. The event used the Reno-Fernley Raceway B & G courses, which are 2 of the 15 different RFR track configurations.
The PDX and Club Trials used the G course and the Track Trials used the more challenging and technical B course. There were 5 Club Trials and 8 Track Trials champions decided this year. The closest Time Trials race of the weekend belonged to the Track Trials TT-3 production class. The Northwest Region's Mario Brown won the NorPac TT-3 Championship by a mere .047 seconds over Reno Region's Jeffrey Denson. It doesn't get much closer than that folks! After being down by .2 of a second after day one, Mario found the speed and the line needed to make up the difference on day two. This race group had everyone's attention. The combined times from the two days of racing were used to decide the divisional championship in each class for both the Club Trials and Track Trials events.
The overall fastest lap time of the weekend belonged to the Northwest Region's own Brian "Big Dog" Holsten driving the well prepared Mystic Cobra Mustang. Brian turned in an extremely fast lap of 2:19.876 on the B course and was clocked at 140 mph on the front straight by radar gun. Brian's in-car videos can be seen at this and this link.
This year, 7 drivers from the Northwest Region made the long (but well worth it) trek to participate in this popular and growing event. This year's representation of the NWR is more than double from last year's inaugural Time Trials Championship event where there were only 3 NWR drivers making the long haul to participate and represent our region. This year the Northwest Region drivers managed to place 1st (4 times), 2nd, 3rd and 4th in Track Trials
competition. They were Brian Holsten (1st place TT-1), Ed Allen (2nd place TT-1), Mario Brown (1st place TT-3), Matt Chambers (3rd place TT-3), Scott Hicks (4th place TT-3), Scott Norton (1st place TT-4) and Mark McCloskey (1st place GT3).
All of these drivers would like to give a very special "thank you" to the Reno Region's Dave & Carol Deborde for all their hard work to put on this great event and to all of the volunteers of the event for their efforts in making it happen. They are all looking forward to coming back again next year. They would also like to see the number of Northwest Region drivers attending the 2008 NorPac Time Trials Championship grow as much as it did from year one to year two!

For far too long the use of a twin disc clutch meant that you had to sacrafice driveability. They were on and off switches that you dare not use on the street. But when you have a car making too much horsepower for a conventional clutch set-up, what were you to do?
Now there is an answer!
Our new twin disc clutch kits are designed to hold up to 800 HP. This is achieved by using state of the art materials and incredible designs. All this holding power does not mean that driveability is lost. Pedal feel is virtually unchanged and engagement is as smooth as our 3.2 kevlar single disc unit.
THE FLOATER PLATE ON ALL OUR UNITS IS STRAPPED TO ELIMINATE THE ANNOYING RATTLE THAT TWIN DISC UNITS ARE KNOWN FOR.
At only 8 3/4" in diameter, we have also kept down the rotating mass to further improve performance.
The kit not only includes the pressure plate and both discs, but also a state of the art high quality performance flywheel.

We're happy to say Brad's Custom Auto is expanding. We have purchased the property and building next door. In the coming months we will be working on renovating the new building. Renovations will include a new office, show room and customer waiting area.
This will also provide additional parking, storage and warehouse space for new parts. These changes will allow for more shop space for quicker turn around times on jobs and greater productivity.
In the coming months watch for updates and new photos as it takes shape. When done we will be having a Grand Opening celebration!

- GR40 Mustang 4on4 Brake Systems
- 4 Piston on all 4 Wheels
- Optional ABS Compatible & Emergency Brake
- Dyno Tested and Race Proven
- Starting Under $2999.00 Plus Hoses and Pads
Griggs Racing has completed a long term process of test and evaluation of brake systems made available for fitment to the Mustang aftermarket, and the results are significant. We evaluated a considerable lineup of components from around the world, looking for the most cost effective components and best performance we could offer our clientele in a complete system for their varied usage. The results were surprising even to us. The really good news is we have bundled these components into 3 separates kits, or systems that provide world class stopping power and brake modulation but wonÔt break the bank. Plus, they are more durable and cost effective to operate (lowest cost of consumables) than anything we could find on the market.
To accomplish this we had to make some of the parts ourselves, and we had some suppliers retool to meet the specific needs of the Mustang. We call the systems 4on4 (four-pistons on all four wheels). You can read about the test procedures, conclusions, and our resultant GRB brake system product development and specific kits and applications at http://www.griggsracing.com/news/4on4.html
GRB 4on4 is a truly remarkable system dedicated to Mustangs that provides world class stopping power and can come with optional OEM ABS compatibility, and/or an optional parking brake. For you track drivers of ABS equipped Mustangs, no longer will you have to change rear pads in your OEM or PBR calipers so often. The much extended pad life in the rear alone will pay for the system quickly, not to mention the front pad life and low cost of the pads. All this comes with incredible balanced stopping confidence and modulation.
There are lots of brake component manufacturers, but not one to date has provided such a comprehensive front and rear big brake system for all late model Mustangs (and GR350 Mustangs), that feature the performance, longevity, pad life, and easy fitment for anything near the cost of the GRB 4on4 series brake systems. And of course, as is our normal way of doing things, this is the system we run on our own street cars as well as race with, so you have all our experienced customer tech support to go along with it. Where else can you get this?

We are ready to show the state and members of the legislature that world-class racing needs to be in Washington. Many people have asked over the past few months, "What can I do to help the efforts?"
That answer is simple and one that requires very little time today. "Let your voice be heard at this critical and important time!" We have a solid proposal that will be presented to the legislature in the coming weeks, but we have heard that they're not sure the public wants to have a track in the state. Let's show them that racing fans are here and that you are from
all parts of the state and most importantly that itÕs time to rev up the state's economy!
Click the link below and follow the easy directions to allow your voice to be heard by the state legislature. Let them know that you want to bring world-class racing and all the economic benefits that it will offer, as a result of the many thousands and thousands of race fans who will travel to Washington from around the country and world to see an incredibly exciting and family-oriented sport.
Spread the word and forward this email to your friends, family and business associates who are also looking to help the stateÕs economy grow and prosper with auto racing!
With your help, the green flag will drop in the near future and we'll all be in victory lane, with a track in Washington!
Sincerely,
W. Grant Lynch, Jr.
